FAST Christmas – ‘there’s a feather stuck to me’
The Farnham Assemblies and Schools Team have had their busiest Christmas ever – and it has been wonderful!!! Angel feathers have been flying everywhere as the children made angels following a very special Christmas lesson.
We would like to thank all those people who have given up their time to bring Christmas lessons and assemblies to the primary school children of Farnham
The Innkeeper was as ‘grumpy’ as ever, the ‘Dark Cloud’ hung across the bright star for a while but was soon blown away by the enthusiastic assembly just wanting to see what would happen next. Sure enough the oooohs and ahhhs came in abundance when the curtains were parted to reveal the Nativity,
FAST has had a number of firsts this Christmas time:
- We must say grateful thanks to the parents and staff of Folly Hill school for their kind donation following the collection at the school production.
- Lessons including the Jesse Tree, candle votives
- Assembly Christmas cards and Re-cycling gift tags – a small token of love from us to each pupil.
- Coffee mornings where parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles and anyone interested in finding out about the team were invited to join us for coffee following an assembly
We are all now looking forward to the lessons and assemblies booked into a busy calendar - then there’s Easter to look forward to – NEVER a dull moment - if you are interested in joining us – you don’t have to stand up and perform, help is always needed I preparing lesson materials please contact us - you’ll enjoy the fun (Joan - 01252 714414)

Puppet Workshop
Saturday 12th January 2 - 5pm
We would like to form a small team dedicated to puppet ministry – telling bible stories and Christian messages in church and school using our hand held puppets.
We have an expert puppeteer: Carol Harnett from FCCT prepared to help launch this project by teaching us how to bring our puppets to life most effectively and skilfully. Just add practise! Would you like to come and join in?

A Visit to Israel October 2007

What would you expect from a visit to Israel by looking at the media coverage? Suicide bombs? Rockets? Shooting, bloodshed, burning and kidnapping? Yes, these all go on, BUT GOD is working behind the scenes. I was in Israel for nearly a month in October and I saw none of the former but lots of the latter.
In Jerusalem, a Hebrew Messianic fellowship which meets in a large converted cinema in Jerusalem has vision for filling that place with believing Israelis. A couple are sending Christmas Baskets of toys, sweets and presents to needy Arab Christian families in Bethlehem and the West Bank. Russian fellowships are ministering to needy families who have recently arrived in Israel and so are Ethiopian congregations.
In the South a Messianic group who run “The Shelter” are helping refugees from Sudan, some of whom are Christians, to find work in the local hotels and accommodation around. The evening we were there, we worshipped in Hebrew, Russian, Chinese, German and English before hearing a Gospel message for several who attend regularly but have not yet made any commitment. In the Negev we met believers who are praying for their Orthodax Jewish persecutors, and who also have contact with a local Arab Bedouin village.
All this does not seek to minimise the problems in Israel, nor the very real dangers that face people day by day, but I was really encouraged that God is working out His purposes through many everyday things and He is the hope in the midst of all the darkness and chaos.

Leader Canon Jeffrey Bell
Wednesday 23rd and 30th January

Methodist Church, South Street, Farnham, GU9 7RN
Cost £5 per session
How did Christianity and Rabbinic Judaism develop? The three centuries between the destruction of Nehemiah's Temple by the Greeks, and Herod's by the Romans, were the most creative for these two religions. They both came from the same 'stable', and for both the destruction of the Temple in AD 70 was critical. Archaeological, text discoveries and new scholarship have thrown new light on the New Testament period. This course will explore the religious, cultural, and political background to the early Church and Rabbinical Judaism.

F.A.S.T. Walking....
Dave Hancock, who is the caretaker at Folly Hill Infants School , has kindly offered to raise funds for FAST by undertaking a sponsored walk. One of his spare time pursuits is long distance walking and this time he will be travelling the Cotswolds Way - just over 100 miles of quintessentially English countryside across the Cotswolds escarpment with its stunning views and charming villages from the beautiful Cotswold market town of Chipping Campden in the north to the World Heritage City of Bath in the south. Dave will set off during half term week, walking about 20 miles a day. We are very grateful to him and pray for a very enjoyable and safe journey.
The money raised will enable us to continue to support Farnham Primary schools by providing attractive up to date R.E. lesson and assembly resources.
Please do sponsor him for a day or for the whole journey by emailing Joan ©fcct.org.uk. or ringing the FCCT office on 01252 714414. Thank you so much.
