I have had the responsibility and the privilege since July 07 of running and being in charge of Pure Sport.
Pure Sport is an event which happens on a Saturday once a month at Farnham Sports Centre for young people aged 7 – 18. It involves a number of activities such as: football, bouncy castle, swimming, trampoline, squash and table tennis.
I am amazed how popular it has become and it is one of the biggest youth events that is currently running in Farnham.
Over the last few months we have seen a rise in the young people attending and
because of that we have had to limit numbers to 230 to keep both adults and young people safe.
There are a number of volunteers who help out each month together with the members of the youth team, of which I am a member. Without the volunteers it would be impossible to run the event. I am really grateful for all that they do.
If you would like to get involved, we always welcome new volunteers to help out whether it be once, twice a year or on a more regular basis. If this applies to you then please contact me on the email or numbers bellow. We would love to have you on the team. nicola@fcct.org.uk // 07919123008 (Mobile) // 01252714414 (Office) Nicola Stubberfield

The Tea Party
with
Farnham ASSIST and The Cooler
On Thursday 10th April the FCCT youth team partnered with Farnham ASIST to put on an over sixty’s afternoon tea Party with a group of young people from the Cooler drop-in. Below is one of the young people’s accounts of the event.
We arrived at the Weydon Christian Centre at about 10am, and quicky got to work, making sandwiches, blowing up balloons and baking cakes. We worked pretty hard through until 2pm, combining hard labour with interesting discussion on topics such as politics and the environment. Not long after 2pm, the guests began trickling in, and joining us. We settled down to 45 minutes of board games, card games, and various others, scrabble, cribbage, guess who, and many others were wheeled out for the occasion, and mixed groups of children and adults enjoyed playing these games. It was fun from our point of view, teaching the guests these games, and it seemed that they enjoyed it as well.
Not long after that, tea was brought in, and the guests were amazed at the quantity of food we had managed to produce. It was speedily eaten, although not finished, and that eating was accompanied by more conversation between the two groups of people. Finally, we did a quiz on “Farnham – Past and Present”, which was both enjoyed and highly scored by all. The teams were mixed older and younger people which only added to the general enjoyment of this. Following that, people started to trickle home, and the mammoth effort at clearing up began.
The afternoon was a roaring success – the guests appeared to have fun, enjoying games and conversation with a different generation, and I believe we as a group learned plenty from their company as well. Hopefully, this effort can be repeated next year, it was well worth it!
A view of the afternoon from Farnham ASSIST!
A wonderful afternoon was had by all on 10 th April when the Cooler youth group put on afternoon tea and entertainment for guests, invited through ASSIST from the Central lunches and Pie and Pint Club members.
The youth group worked extremely hard in the morning, making cakes and sandwiches, as well as preparing the room for the afternoon event, which was held in the Weydon Christian Centre.
The afternoon started with a welcome by older members of the Cooler, and was followed by board games and a cup of tea. The young people each hosted a table and everybody spent an hour or so playing scrabble, cards, cribbage, dominoes and other table based games. Tea was then served
and the young people did a wonderful job in hosting their tables and looking after their guests. The afternoon was rounded off with a local quiz for teams of mixed ages.
The feedback from the folk at the ASSIST Central lunch the following Sunday was very encouraging. They had all had a wonderful time and wanted to give a big thank you to the young
people for all they did and “for not treating us like old people” as one person said! Others commented how much they enjoyed playing scrabble which they had not done in years and all said how wonderful the food was and asked “when will we be doing it again?”
A big thank you to all those who gave up their day or afternoon to help put on the event, whether it be in the kitchen, setting up the hall or providing transport - without you it would have not been possible!

Creative Prayer
The FAST team are looking forward to a new venture which is to run a week of Creative Prayer in one of our local primary schools.
We will be setting up lunchtime prayer stations for children to come, reflect, create and investigate what prayer is all about. We have the wonderful support of Hugo Anson of the Grassroots Trust who will be bringing along large items such as tents and bubble tubes. We would value and welcome any ideas or suggestions from those of you who have set up similar types of prayer stations for children or if you have seen it done at Christian events such as Spring Harvest. We will be having a get-together and practice set up on Wednesday 7th May at Weydon Christian Centre from 10 -2pm and you would be very welcome to come along to join in and present your ideas.
Alternatively, do ring or email the FAST team on 01252 714414 or Linda@fcct.org.uk, with your suggestions.
Please do let us know if you will be coming along to the practice on the 7th May as lunch/drinks will be provided and we will need to know numbers. Thanks!!

Inter-church Service
Weybourne Baptist Church is hosting the first inter-church all age afternoon service.
The service is aimed at families who struggle to get to a morning service because of their children's sporting activities, and those who find it tough getting everyone out of the house on time!
The service will be informal and relaxed. There will be singing, drama, a short interactive talk - and tea and cake. Please join us - and join in!
The service is on 18th May 2008, 4.00pm to 5.00pm.
