DROP THE DEBT FAST IN FULL SWING
The Drop the Debt Fast is well underway, with hundreds of people taking part from around the UK, as well as in countries on four continents. Most fasters are taking part by giving up food for a day. But some have decided to give up something smaller - cakes, biscuits, coffee, even the Today programme - for several days or the whole period. Read a report on the Fast launch at: http://www.jubileedebtcampaign.org.uk/launch
The Fast is demanding much faster debt cancellation for the world's poorest countries, and focuses on a different indebted country every day until 18 May. Today's focus is the north-east African country of Djibouti, which has some of the highest rates of illiteracy as well as maternal and infant mortality in the world. But Djibouti is considered too 'rich' by the World Bank and IMF to qualify for cancellation of any of its $424 million debts.
It's not too late to take part in the Fast - you can sign up for one of the remaining days here: http://www.jubileedebtcampaign.org.uk/fast
JOURNEY TO JUSTICE: TICKETS AND COACHES
Tickets for Journey to Justice on Sunday 18 May - this year's unmissable debt campaign event - are selling fast. All the details of the event and how to book are at: http://www.journeytojustice.org
There are also now a number of coaches travelling to Birmingham, and spaces are still available if you haven't finalised your plans. Coaches are coming from Farnham, Leeds, Malvern, Newcastle, Richmond/West London, Sheffield, and St Albans/North London. Details of who to contact to book your place are at: http://www.jubileedebtcampaign.org.uk/travel
TENTH ANNIVERSARY SCHOOLS AND WORSHIP RESOURCES
Jubilee Debt Campaign has produced a variety of resources for teachers and church groups to use around the tenth anniversary of the debt campaign and Journey to Justice. Resources include presentations, prayers, meditations, songs, discussion notes and more. You can download them from our website:

WORLD BANK HOSTS ILLEGITIMATE DEBT ROUNDTABLE
The World Bank and International Monetary Fund spring meetings earlier this month were dominated by talk of the international food crisis. But behind the scenes there was also an important step forward for the illegitimate debt campaign - after years of stonewalling, the World Bank finally held a meeting with campaigners to discuss illegitimate debt.
