FARM CRISIS NETWORK IN SURREY
The Farm Crisis Network is a Christian organisation which works with those in the farming community who need support through difficult times associated with farm or home related problems. FCN works across England, Wales and Northern Ireland through county based groups of volunteers who provide face to face support to those who come to us for support. We work closely with the Surrey Rural Stress Initiative. Please see the enclosed leaflet which gives a few more details of our work and that of the SRSI. The recent experience of Foot and Mouth in Surrey came at a time when the Farm Crisis Network was at an early stage of developing its county group in Surrey. A small steering group had already been formed together with SRSI, and a handful of volunteers were recruited. The workload of those involved increased dramatically during last summer and the move to develop the group itself was put on hold. We are now at a stage where we are trying to strengthen both the number of our volunteers and the structure of the Surrey group.

- Remember us in your prayers as we develop our work. Prayer is important to us as an organisation and the prayer support of churches is vital.
- Advertise us in your church notices so that your congregations are aware that we are ministering within the county to those who have been affected by the recent foot and mouth outbreak and continue to be affected by the constant changes in farming and farming practices
- Let people know that we are looking for volunteers; volunteers are selected carefully for a range of positions within the group, including organisational responsibilities. Some volunteers will be involved in face to face support of those who come to us for support and will be given training and back up in that work.
- When you are considering your Christian giving you may also like to consider making a donation to our work or the work of the three charities of the Farming Help Partnership (FCN, RABI, and the ARC-Addington Fund) or the local Surrey Rural Stress Initiative with which we work closely.
Surrey Rural Stress Initiative
Is looking for a new FIELDWORKER
The Fieldworker
- will promote the work of the SRSI to the wider rural community.
- will maintain funding for the organisation via charitable trusts
- will work around ten hours a week
- will work closely with the SRSI management committee
- will link with the Farming Help partnership and particularly the Farm Crisis Network
Some experience in and understanding of country living, and computer literacy will be required. Own car is essential.
