Duncan & Jan Weir - Newsletter January 30 2010

Hi everyone – The end of January! “Oh wind, if winter comes, can spring be far behind?”- a favourite quote of mine from Shelley’s Ode to the west Wind”. Like most of you we spent the snowy days re-scheduling and postponing diary dates. Life became quite simple ( and even retro! ) with a whole afternoon taken up with walking to the shop to buy whatever food was available, making soup and comforting food and then digging a path through the snow, lighting log fires and clearing the hearth again the next morning!

We recently spent an evening sharing with friends from Bookham Baptist church who will be going to live in Goiania in September for 2 years. It appears they will be building on the foundation we laid during our time there. It was very satisfying to feel we were sort of handing on the baton. We also look forward to sharing more with some other friends from Cobham who are planning to live in Uberlandia for one year in 2011. It is exciting to see how God is still working on the Brazil links in our region.

January 20^th - Jan was with River Church in Windsor/Maidenhead training 2 more Kairos facilitators who will help facilitate Kairos with the Big Year course in March.

January 26^th – planning the Macedonia course with Phil Evans while he was visiting Guildford last week.

Duncan is still anticipating more treatment for angina as the angioplasty and fitting of a stent in early December 2009 have left him with an increased incidence of angina rather than solving the problem! His doctor will hopefully be performing another angioplasty in late February / March to try and solve this. Meanwhile, we are pleased the doctor has given permission for Duncan to travel to Macedonia -an ANSWER to prayer just this week. (Many thanks to Bob and Rob and Rosemary for airport lifts).

We have been planning our next steps with Kairos:-

February 2^nd – Jan is working with 5 Dna Mission Track students (a Pioneer 1 year course).

February 4^th – 17^th helping Phil Evans facilitate the 1^st Course in Macedonia in English and to prepare a team to begin the translation into Macedonian. This is very exciting as it will be the realisation of a dream for 2010 birthed by the team in Budapest at the Kairos Europe Consultation in November last year.

February 18-19^th Kairos National Team at Rothwell, Leeds. Sharing, strategising, planning and praying with Linda Harding and other members of the National Team from UK regions.

Mid March- late April in Brazil to work with our team of facilitators and running more courses including one with the DTS students at JOCUM (YWAM) in Goiania. Our embryonic National Team is already taking on more responsibility and are planning publicity for the next set of courses.

Tbc - 27^th May – June 7^th – returning to Romania – facilitating an English Kairos course with the charity ARP Networks - with several English speaking missionaries working in Siria and Arad, West Romania. This is where Robert and Heather have been based since September last year.

Over the next few months we also hope to fit in a long weekend in Lisbon, Portugal to liaise with leaders to run the 1^st course in Portugal possibly late September/ Autumn 2010. We are currently communicating with Arlete, a Brazilian missionary who has some very good contacts and also knows our Portuguese contacts.

Please pray over all these dates- especially for our health that we can fulfil these plans
Please pray for all the travelling and logistics + God appointments on the way!
Please pray for our finances so we can fund these plans. Duncan is marking exams right now and Jan has been doing some Supply Teaching. However, we continue to be grateful to all of you who partner with us. – Thank you. Please pray for the delegates who are attending the courses- that God will clearly speak to them about their role in mission.
Please pray for least reached people groups in Macedonia, Brazil, Romania, Portugal, Mozambique and also in your area that they may hear the Gospel.
