Brazil 17th March – 23rd April 2010
We arrived in Goiania to a heat blast of temperatures well in excess of 25 degrees more than we were used to after our cold, early March and extremely cold winter here in Farnham.
The first course was held at the 2nd Presbyterian Church building in Uberlandia, 20 – 27th March. Here we welcomed 18 delegates (left) from several different churches across the city and continued training our team of facilitators, (below) This was the 16th Kairos course in Brazil since April 2007. |

We were really thrilled and excited to appoint Rodrigo as National Coordinator for Kairos in Brazil. We had much paperwork and many files (both computer and hard copies) to handover to him! It certainly made our luggage a little lighter and Rodrigo and Paloma (left) have had to designate a new cupboard in their study to accommodate all the materials This was indeed the culmination of many prayers, of many meetings and many miles travelled to realise the dream of seeing a Kairos National Team in Brazil. The team will take its place alongside the other national teams representing Kairos in more than 40 countries worldwide. Duncan and I will continue in a parenting role but it was truly an emotional time of seeing “our child” come to maturity. Rodrigo and the team now have authority and responsibility for the development of the course in Brazil in the future.

We then travelled back to Goiania to the YWAM/JOCUM base to accredit Luciana and Meiriele as Head Faciliators and to continue the training of some more facilitators- see photo below left.
The 17th course in Brazil was a 5 day wonderful “journey” from 13- 17th April 2010 with 21 amazing students. It included some pastors and leaders from Sao Paulo and Paracatu, Minas Gerais as well as DTS students representing several states in Brazil including Mato Grosso state which has many unreached people groups in its population. We really enjoyed some creative times of prayer and worship with the Ywamers. |
It was great that Rodrigo and Paloma were able to visit and help facilitate part of the course.
At the graduation there were some very moving stories
Pr – “I confess I haven’t had a very significant prayer life and certainly haven’t prayed for unreached people. I am returning to my church to adopt an unreached people group for the main congregation and to include this teaching in the children’s’ work”. |
Fortunately the Icelandic ash cloud didn’t affect us and we were able to leave Brazil on our scheduled flight just 2 days after Heathrow was re-opened. When we were planning our itinerary we had originally tried to book flights 2 days earlier but they had been too expensive!

Thanks for all your prayers, support and encouragement. We have reached the end of a chapter in the Brazil and Beyond Project – an “Ebenezer” place and declare, “Thus far has the Lord helped us. “ 1 Sam 7 v 12. This does give us FAITH for the next chapters!
| In fact the next chapter has already begun and after Macedonia we are following the “Finger of God” with more connections in Europe. At the end of May we are travelling to Siria, Romania to facilitate a course in English with ANP Networks. Robert and Heather will be among our students and we are pleased to have the help of Barry from the Romanian Kairos National Team. |
In mid May we are planning to meet with Linda Harding (International Kairos Team) to pray and strategise for our next steps.
We look forward to continue partnering and journeying with you all.
Please pray
- For the Kairos National team in Brazil – including Seth who is in Ghana trying to secure his visa
- For our good health and high energy levels
- For clear pathways ahead - doors opened by God, not just our “good” ideas
- For finance to help us realize all before us (Click here to download a Stewardship support form)
- For our family

Thank you,
With our love |
