Easter Celebration - an invitation from farnham Pentecostal Church

To Church Leaders and Members of Churches in Farnham

 
We have for some time had the desire to put on a Christian celebration in the centre of
Farnham and various ideas have emerged as to when would be the ideal time to do this. By
far the most popular suggestion has been at Easter time.

 
For many years now, as most of you will know, we have been organising the Sunrise Service
in Farnham Park at 7.00 am on Easter Sunday morning and as much as this is enjoyed by
those who come along, the attendance has been falling over the last couple of years and
because of its location, it has little or no impact upon the people of Farnham in general.

 
Because of noise considerations it would not be possible to move this service to the centre
of Farnham at that time of the morning and so we propose to organise a Celebration Service
on the afternoon of Easter Sunday 8th April, centred around the bandstand in Gostrey
Meadow, starting at 2.30 pm.

 
As with the Good Friday Walk of Witness, we would like to involve representatives from as
many Churches in the area as possible and to make this a Churches Together in Farnham
event.

 
To this end we are inviting those Churches or indeed individual members of churches, who
would like to be involved in this, to contact us.

 
We plan to form an Inter Church Worship Team for this event and so if you are already part
of your church’s team or choir and would like to be involved, please contact us. Obviously,
because of the size of the bandstand, there is a limit as to how many people can be involved
in this role and you would need to be available for rehearsals during the 5 week period
beforehand. We would also invite volunteers to read scripture, to act as marshals, to hand
out literature, to possibly man a ‘Prayer Tent’ etc.
