Churches Together

Including Blind and Partially Sighted People in the Life of the Church

The Torch Trust for the blind www.torchtrust.org is a charity  whose aim is: To overcome sight loss as a barrier to finding a personal faith in Christ and to living a fulfilled Christian life. Christian literature, fellowship and personal support for visually impaired people.

"Many blind and partially sighted people face barriers to full inclusion in their church life every week - and yet it is actually very simple for churches to make quite small changes so that everyone feels fully included. Most of these just require a little thought and preparation but very lettle cost."

"Everybody is different. There is no one perfect solution - but there are useful guidelines that work for most people. If there are already blind or partially sighted people in your church, ask what they think. This booklet contains some suggestions, but you will find many more appropriate solutions that work well for your church."

These are two quotes from the introduction to a booklet "A Clearer Vision" produced by the Torch Trust. This is available cost £1.00 from
