Tell the G8: The World Can’t Wait
This Saturday (2nd June) we will be taking part in the World Can't Wait rally in London. Why? Because the G8 leaders are meeting in Germany next week, and they're not acting fast enough to make poverty history. It's time to raise our voices.
Join us and thousands of others for a day of workshops, stalls, activities, campaign info and debates in central London, including a noisy send-off for Tony Blair.
JUBILEE DEBT CAMPAIGN ON THE DAY
You can take part in our workshop in the morning, and a mock edition of Deal or No Deal in the afternoon, both in Archbishop's Park. In between, we'll join the big noise on the banks of the Thames to send off our voices against poverty.
Debt Cancellation since Gleneagles: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - workshop 12noon-1pm, Archbishop's Park, Carlisle Lane, SE1
Jubilee Debt Campaign stall with our latest campaign materials 11am-5pm, Emmanuel Centre, Marsham St, SW1P
Raise Your Voice Against Poverty 2pm, River Thames, between Lambeth and Westminster bridges
Debt or No Debt: Lifting the Lid on Global Debt 3.30pm, Archbishop's Park

DEBT & THE G8
This will be the first G8 summit in Germany since the Cologne summit of 1999, which responded to debt campaigners - including the 70,000 who had surrounded the previous summit in Birmingham - by offering an additional $50 million in debt relief. This year, campaigners are looking to the German hosts and all the G8 members to wipe out more illegitimate and unpayable debt, to show support for a change to the unfair processes of debt cancellation, and to take bold and effective action against 'vulture funds' targeting indebted countries.

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN GERMANY
There will be a demonstration against the G8 in Rostock on 2 June, where erlassjahr (Jubilee Germany) will be displaying giant red balloons covered with signatures demanding the wiping out of illegitimate debt - including one signed by UK Development Secretary Hilary Benn. (Thanks to Dave Pearce of Manchester JDC for making that happen). Other events up to and during the summit include the Shake G8 bikeride, an alternative summit, and a day of action on migration policies.
