GERMAN G8 FAILS URGENCY TEST
Despite massive global pressure forcing poverty back onto the agenda, the meeting of G8 leaders in Germany this month failed to take the urgent action needed - including on vulture funds. Over half a million people in the UK raised their voices against poverty in advance of the summit, and thousands converged on the summit from around Europe in protest. But despite repeating their promises on debt from 2005, and a statement of concern from finance ministers over vultures, there was little genuine progress at the summit.

ILLEGITIMATE DEBT - ASK YOUR MP TO LIFT THE LID
Our /Lift the Lid/ campaign has started strongly - with postcards and petitions going out around the country, our show-stealing Debt or No Debt game at the 2 June rally, and Ann McKechin MP securing an adjournment debate in parliament on Wednesday. Next month MPs will have a chance to find out more about irresponsible past lending, and how to make sure it doesn't happen in the future, at a briefing meeting in parliament. We need you to encourage them to attend!
