WEYDON & WRECCLESHAM COMMUNITY CONSULTATION SUMMARY

In September 2007 a number of interested parties, from political, faith and community backgrounds, met to consider the needs of the communities in the Weydon and Wrecclesham area.
It was generally recognised that because of the very mixed nature of housing in this area that it fell below the radar in terms of prioritisation of government and third sector initiatives.
Whilst significant attention was being paid to Sandy Hill and The Chantrys, areas of similar deprivation were being missed in Weydon and Wrecclesham.
The Community Consultation Group was established, which has completed a comprehensive mapping exercise of the provision in the area (details of which can be accessed at [to be confirmed]).
A budget of £20,000 has been put in place to help facilitate local initiatives by local people and to date this has included the appointment of a local person as a one day per week youth worker based in the Wrecclesham Community Centre and assistance for playgroups and parents and family play at Pilgrims Way School.
The purpose is to target all age ranges within society and the next step of the process will be to conduct a comprehensive consultation of the community itself.
